Cochrane Sturling League - Oct. - Dec.
Our League is split into 2 sections; Fall : October to December and Winter: Jan – to Mid March. Our playing fees are split so you pay for each session separately. We play on Fridays at 1:30pm for 1 hour.
The only equipment needed is a sturling stick and 2 grippers for your footwear. No need for curling shoes if you are comfortable with sneakers. For safety sake we insist that you have the gripper.
Our game’s rules are that we play with teams of 2 players and play with 6 rocks and only 6 ends. There is no sweeping between the hog lines, but allow sweeping from hog line to back line. CCA rules apply. See www.sturling.net for more information.
This will be our thirteenth year of our Sturling League and we also hold an Annual Sturling Bonspiel. We normally run it mid February and draw players from Calgary, and surrounding communities. We support their communities Bonspiels and they support ours. This has been a resounding success.
Our goal for our League is to bring people into curling with a stick or coming back to the game they played many years ago but unable to get into the hack or have the ability to sweep any more. It is a Fun League and we do not consider it to be competitive.
Our game is also open to slide curlers who will be partnered with a person who throws the rock with a stick. You are welcome to bring in a team or will be placed with another Sturler.
I am happy to say that we are open to wheelchair Sturlers as well. This game is derived from wheelchair Olympic Curling.
COME AND JOIN THE FUN.
Please call Myrna Fink at 403-932-1998 for more information.

Oldtimers Wednesday Open League - Oct. - Dec.
The Oldtimers League is a fun league that moved from the Calgary Winter Club to the Cochrane Curling Club. We are a mixed league mostly composed of retired and semi-retired (50+) men and women at all skill levels (stick or hack) who enjoy curling simply for the joy of curling and being social. We are a non-competitive league that meets Mondays from 10 to noon and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 2:30. We welcome all curlers, particularly those curlers who haven’t curled in many years and want to get back into curling for the exercise. And we want to encourage want-to-be curlers with no or limited experience to join us too. We curl with four member-teams usually for 8 ends. We form different teams for each of the fall and winter curling semesters. If you prefer to spare, we would like to hear from you too. We offer on the ice training for beginners! We hold a banquet at the end of the season.
