Hello Fellow Cochrane Curling Club members,
It has been a little more than a month since we last sent out a letter with updates on the club. We are sorry if you have felt left in the dark, but frankly there was no light for us to provide. We have been waiting patiently for information and doing what we can to support SLSFSC.
The status of the season is the most pressing issue, with the continuation of the Covid pandemic and the decisions of the provincial government. The events of this last week are the first time that the government has clearly laid out their plan -- and it isn’t good for winter sports. The earliest projected resumption of community sports is mid-March and that is simply too late for cold weather activities. SLSFSC and the CCC board have tried to preserve some portion of the season but it is simply not going to happen. We must now go into summer operations mode to save costs and start getting ourselves prepared for next season.
There will be future communications regarding how we will wind down this season and deal with the financial aspects. There are several loose ends left to wrap up with SLSFSC but we will explain what people can expect as soon as possible.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in this season and tried to make the most of a strange situation. Thank you for supporting curling, and we simply ask that you continue to be patient as we figure out the best way to wind down this season and prepare for the next.
Regards,
Gord Copithorne and the CCC Board of Directors
